The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) is dedicated to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). KDU reports on the SDGs on an annual basis and embeds the SDGs in everything that we do, from our curriculum and research to wider activities at the university. This is illustrated by our dedicated website to the UN's SDGs. While being recognized as the leader in Sri Lanka for quality education, gender equality, and reducing inequalities, KDU has been ranked within the world's top 1000 universities across all of the UN's SDGs. Furthermore, we are proud to announce that the university has also significantly contributed towards advancements in three additional SDGs, including outstanding accomplishments in clean water and sanitation, Decent work and economic growth, and Responsible consumption and production. KDU’s rich record of service aligns nicely with the agenda of SDGs. KDU, as one of the leading higher education providers in the country aligns its strategies with those of the government and SDGs of the United Nations.
